3 Pre-Round Habits to Improve your Performance on the Golf Course

KarenGolf Fitness, Misc

How you prepare for your round can have a big impact on how you play.

Here are three simple things you can do before your round of golf, without changing your swing, that will set your day up for success.

1. Eat Something Good for You-

The key to maintaining your energy level during a round of golf is controlling blood sugar. That means avoiding foods made with refined carbohydrates (things made with white flour and/or sugars). Eating foods full of carbohydrates causes your blood sugar to raise sharply, so you feel alert and energetic at first but then zap your energy after you have burned through the sugar.

Eating the right pre-round meal, however, levels off your blood sugar and boosts energy. Good foods contain no refined flour, sugar, or trans fats. Trans fats are found in food made with hydrogenated oil, processed foods, and shortening, which is used in all most all baked goods. Eating the right pre-round meal will help you play your best golf.

Would you change the way you eat if it could help you play better golf?

2. Do a Pre-Round Warm-Up Routine-

To increase your clubhead speed, you will need to be able to take all your joints and muscles through their complete range of motion.  You must warm up muscles and joints before you play and practice to swing freely and to prevent injury.

Your CardioGolf™ Online Studio has many different pre-round warm-up routines that you do before your round of golf to perform your best.

For many of us, we used to be able to hop out of the car, go straight to the first tee and rip a drive down the middle of the fairway.  Now by skipping a warmup before a round of golf may mean it takes us 4 or 5 holes before you loosen up and gain your form and by that time your score may already be ruined. Explore  quick and easy pre-round warm-up routines on your CardioGolf™ Online Studio Subscription to help you avoid those big numbers on the scorecard.

3. Visualize Good Shots and Say Affirmations to Yourself-

To quite your mind and relax your body before your round of golf, spend a few quiet moments visualizing your first tee shot. Having a good first tee shot can give you the confidence you need for the rest of the round.

Your CardioGolf™ Online Studio Subscription includes videos to help you visualize good shots and hear positive affirmations to help you feel confident before your round.

It only takes a few moments, in the locker room or even sitting in your car, close your eyes, breathe and try to clear your mind of all thoughts.

Watch the CardioGolf™ Affirmation videos and then visualize the first hole of your golf course.  See yourself making smooth practice swings.  See yourself set up to the ball and making a smooth backswing and downswing. See yourself finishing in balance. Visualize your ball flying off the clubface, soaring up in the air and landing on the fairway.  Feel the a solid hit and hear the crack on a well struck ball.  Try to imagine as much detail as possible.  When you open your eyes, you should feel refreshed and relaxed, ready for your round of golf.
