Build a Better Golf Swing

KarenGolf Fitness, Misc

To build your golf swing,  you need to understand and practice the correct positions in each phase of the swing.  The easiest way to do that is to break down the swing in sections and work on them individually without hitting balls.  The swing happens so quickly that it is impossible try to think about every moving part in your swing, but if you rehearse each move separately, in phases, your body then can respond and put all the pieces together in one fluid motion.

Trail Arm

In the backswing for a right-handed golfer, the right arm or trailing sets the club at the top of the swing. Ideally your right arm will form 90-angle in your right elbow.

As your downswing begins, the right arm drops to your right side, and stays close to your body. The angle in the right elbow may even get more narrow, and the wrist angle may also increase.  If the arms goes away from your body or you release the angle in elbow and wrist, you lose power and the clubface will be out of position.

KPJ’s Teaching Philosophy- I focus on teaching my students the fundamentals of the swing.  I try not to get too technical or position oriented.  I think a golf swing is about getting the clubface square at impact with rhythm and tempo. I try to adjust my instruction to the ability, interests and motivations of the player I am teaching. Together we will spend time developing an appropriate approach for them to play the game and help them set and achieve short and long terms goals.
