A Note from Karen

         There are less than two weeks until the summer golf season begins.  If you practice some aspect of your game everyday until then, you’ll be ready to start the season out the right way. This time of year is hard to find time to practice- with kids getting out of school, graduations and vacations. So I have designed a mini-Cardiogolf Challenge to help you get some daily practice. 

          In my opinion, daily practice is the key to success towards any goal.  Making 10 practice swings a day or putting for five minutes everyday will get you playing better than practicing for two or three hours once a week.

         First of all, it is always hard to find big chunks of time to beat balls on the driving range.  Secondly, the long practice sessions usually lead to fatigued swings and ingrained bad habits.

          There is something to be said about the momentum of taking small daily steps towards a goal that is cumulatively better than taking big steps with less frequency.

Today’s Challenge-Putt for Five Minutes

Take 5 golf balls and practice putting on a carpet or mat for five minutes.  Use a plastic cup as a hole. Think about these skills as you roll the balls-

  • Concentrate on making a smooth stroke
  • Try to find a comfortable grip and grip pressure
  • Concentrate on striking the ball in the center of the clubface and ball
  • Work on your distance control
  • Put pressure on yourself-try to make 5 putts in a row

Spend five minutes rolling putts for better feel and distance control.  Use a plastic cup as a target.
