You know you need to exercise for better health, so why not work on your golf swing at the same time?

Simply adding a few golf-specific exercises into your daily routine can help you improve golf game.

Today’s Cardiogolf Daily Dose-

Clean and Press

Golfer’s may shy away from exercises called Clean, Press or Jerk because they sound like what Olympic weightlifters or competitive bodybuilders would do.  Sure, as a golfer, you do not want to create tight bulky muscles, but some exercises that weightlifters do are good for golfers to learn movement patterns that are similar to what happens in the golf swing.

The Clean and Press move is  a complex multi-joint movement that combines  strength, stability and power all at the same time.

Any Power Clean types of exercises are complicated and you’ll want to do them correctly to get the full effect of the exercise , so you need instruction and practice.  But you can do a modified version with a lighter weight to help develop the movement pattern.  The modified version of the Clean and Press that I demonstrate here involves a deadlift, squat, and a shoulder press.  All simple movements that golfers should master.  Use a light weight to master your form before adding a heavier weight.
