December Daily Cardiogolf Stretch

December is Cardiogolf Flexibility Awareness Month

There is only one month until we ring in a New Year.  For many of us, this is the time where we resolve to finally get into the best shapes of our lives. But waiting unitl the New Year to start a fitness program and then going ‘full blast’ lifting heavy weights could lead, not only to loss of interest in program, if it is too difficult, but to injury too. Sign up for my blog to see different flexibility exercises all this month to improve your body and golf game.

If you begin a strength training program without preparing your body,  by stretching first, you may not gain any benefits for your golf game and worse, you could injure yourself.  You need you need to stretch out tight and unbalanced muscles before you start to build them up.  Start Stretching Your Body Today to GET READY FOR THE NEW YEAR.

Today’s Stretch

SIDE BEND

This exercise works the oblique muscles of your midsection. Begin by standing up straight with your feet close together. Let your arms hang down by your sides. Keeping your back straight, bend to the left as far as you can, try to slide your hand down to your knee, then return to the start position and repeat on the opposite side. Remember to bend only at your waist.

Do 10 to 15 repetitions on each side.  If one side is tighter than the other, stretch that side longer.  I like this exercise because we hardly ever move side to side during our daily routine, so this stretch hits muscles that we do not typically use during the day.
