Lunges are very beneficial to the golfer. Golf requires a fair bit of walking, which is a series of mini- lunges. There are times when you will have different lies such as a sidehill, downhill etc. and lunges help develop strength. You are lunging in four different directions: front, diagonal, side and back.
Multi-directional Lunges
- Place a club or a dowel rod across your back and stand with a shoulder width stance.
- Lunge forward, then return to the start position.
- Lunge diagonally, then return to the start position.
- Lunge to the side, then return to the start position.
- Lunge to the back and then return to the start position.
- Repeat sequence on the other leg.
- Repeat entire sequence on each leg for 8 to 10 repetitions.
