Are You Grounded?

Your feet are your only connection to the ground in the golf swing.  As you shift your weight, your feet have to move, grip and maintain your balance so that you can generate the needed clubhead speed.

If you don’t feel solid and secure with your feet, you won’t swing the club freely in fear of slipping or losing balance.

Simply balancing on one leg can help you can help you improve your turn, weight shift and swing plane.

Balance on One Leg

  1. Assume your golf stance, then lift your front foot slightly off the ground and balance on one leg.
  2. Hold the position for 8 to 10 seconds, then return to start position and repeat on opposite leg.
  3. If you can maintain your balance, then make small practice swings balancing on one leg.  Swing only as far back to where you can maintain your balance.
  4. Make equal amount of practice swings on both legs.
