Day 13-Plank with Twist

A few days ago I posted the importance of doing the Side Plank Exercise to improve  core strength.  Today I want to show you how adding rotation into your core exercises can aid your muscles in working better throughout your swing.  Rotational exercises can help improve movement in hip and pelvic area to bend forward and backwards more easily.

Plank with Twist Cardiogolf.com

1. Begin in a push-up position with feet spread shoulder width apart.  Try to engage your core muscles as you keep your neck, spine and legs in one straight line.  Hold for 10 seconds.

2. Slowly push off your right hand and rotate your upper body to the side as you reach your right arm to the sky.  Feel the rotation in your hips. Hold for 10 seconds.

3. Return to the start position and repeat of the opposite side.

4. Do 8 to 10 repetitions on both sides of the body.

To create power and speed in your golf swing, it is important to stretch and strengthen your core muscles or trunk. Your core consists of muscles in your abdominal, back, hips and chest. A strong, flexible core allows you to turn your trunk for a complete range of motion.
