Golf Fitness Can Help Improve Your Swing

KarenGolf Fitness, Misc

There is no perfect way to swing a golf club, but the more efficient your swing, the better chance you have of making solid contact and maximizing your distance.  Doing specific golf exercises can help you make your swing more efficient by enabling your body to turn better and shift weight more effectively.

Golf Swing Positions

Does Your Joint Mobility Allow You to Swing Efficiently?

One of the biggest problems with higher handicappers is that they cannot achieve the desired swing positions because their bodies won’t allow them to move with ease.  Working on mobility in joints and flexibility and stability in muscles can help you achieve your ideal swing positions.

It is important to be able to move your pelvis smoothly back and forth through extension and flexion.  If you lack mobility in your pelvis, hips or spine, you won’t be able to turn or shift your weight effectively.

Pelvic Tilt for Golf

pelvic tilt with Cardiogolf

  •  Lay flat on your back with knees bent as in photo 1.
  • Exhale tuck your pelvis as your raise your hips slightly off the ground as in photo 2. This is a very small move. Hold the position for 3 seconds.
  • Inhale and release returning to start position.
  • Move smoothly and slowly between the flat and tucked positions for 8 to 10 repetitions.
  • This exercise can help improve posture by increasing spinal flexibility and can help release tightness in lower back.
