Post-Round Stretch Routine

We all know the importance of a pre-round warm up routine to fully prepare the body for the strains of a round of golf, but do you know that stretching after a round of golf can help restore muscle imbalances that could lead to swing flaws and injuries?

Post-round stretching can help restore muscle imbalances and increase mobility and range of motion in your muscles. Stretching after a round of golf, not only feels good, but it is a perfect time to increase flexibility because your muscles are already warm and loose, which makes stretching easier.  You will want to focus on the muscles that are chronically tight.  These muscles may be different for everyone.

Some people have good flexibility naturally. For those of us who don’t, flexibility is needed and can be developed, but you have to work at it everyday. Stretching allows the development and maintenance of optimal joint range of motion, so that the golfer can move through the necessary planes of motion.

To play golf at your full potential you must be able to possess the ability to rotate almost every joint in your body to its functional capacity. If there are restrictions in the shoulders, torso, pelvis or hips, there will be compensations somewhere else in the musculoskeletal system, which results in faults in the golf swing and possible injury to joints and muscles.

Adding stretching into your post-round golf routine can help your swing technique.
