Cardiogolf Off-Course Spinal Mobility Exercise

Flexibility in golf does not just mean how far you can stretch your muscles.  You also need mobility in your joints, especially in your spine.  If you lack mobility in your spine, you won’t be able to fully rotate through full range of motion in your golf swing causing compensations and swing faults.  Spend some time working on spinal mobility, not just to help your golf swing but also to help prevent injuries.

  • Fold your arms out in front of your chest and set up as if you are in your golf posture.
  • Inhale as you move your pelvis back to slightly arch your lower back.
  • Exhale and slowly tilt your tailbone under your pelvis.
  • Inhale as you move your pelvis back to slightly arch your lower back.
  • Hold each position for 3 seconds.
  • Repeat moving your pelvis slowly back and forth to tilt and arch your lower spine for 8 to 10 repetitions.
  • This exercise helps give you mobility in your spine for a more comfortable set up and greater range of motion.
