Cardiogolf Daily Dose-Regain Your Power

KarenCardiogolf Daily Dose, Golf Fitness

One of the most common swing faults, that causes loss of power in the golf swing, is called ‘early extension’. Essentially the golfer stands up at the point of impact causing the hands to flip or slap at the ball.

You want to do the exact opposite of standing up through impact, which is squatting down as you rotate through the hitting area.

Working on increasing flexibility and mobility in your calves and hamstrings help you maintain your original spine angle comfortably through the impact, so you can keep that squat position and regain power.

Calf Stretch-

  1. Start by kneeling on your hands and knees with your hands underneath your shoulders and your hips over your knees.
  2. Extend one leg behind you straight placing your toes on the ground.
  3. Straighten your extended leg as you press through your heel. You should feel a nice stretch in your calf muscle.
  4. Hold position for 10 to 20 seconds and repeat on opposite leg.
  5. Do 2 to 3 repetitions on each leg.

This exercise stretches the calf muscles so that they can support your base as your create speed through your golf swing.  To learn how to do this and other golf-fitness exercise visit Cardiogolf.com.
