Yoga Pose for Golf

The Eagle pose in yoga, also known as garudasana pose, improves your balance and stretches your upper back, shoulders and outer thighs. Regularly practicing this pose will strengthen your legs, knees and ankles.

This modified Eagle pose that I demonstrating opens the pelvic area and creates space between shoulder blades which is important in your golf swing.

As you initiate your downswing, you want to be able to separate your hips from your shoulders so the club remains on plane.  If your shoulders start down at the same pace as your hips, then the club will come over the top of the plane causing a slice or pulled shot.

Breath evenly and gaze forward as you balance using a golf club as shown.
