The best golfers in the world are also some of the fittest people in the world.  Professional golfers spend as much time in the gym as they do on the driving range.

But do you have to pump heavy weights to get into golf shape?

Not necessarily. Firstly, you need to assess your fitness weaknesses and strengths so can that you pinpoint the best exercises to do to maximize your performance.

Secondly, you  need to plan your program around your play and practice schedule so that you are doing exercises that challenge your body but don’t make you sore to play golf the next day.

And thirdly, you need to be consistent with your program.  It is better to do something everyday for a few minutes than to wait for the weekend to do a long session.  Those long sessions usually never happen, and they can lead to overuse injuries.
