THE TIMELESS SWING

By Tom Watson

Reviewed by Karen Palacios-Jansen GFM Managing Editor

PGA tour player Tom Watson has many memorable wins including the dual against Jack Nicklaus at the 1977 Open Champion at Turnberry and the victory at the 1981 U.S. Open Championship at Pebble Beach where he had that amazing chip in at 17 to also beat Nicklaus. His almost win at the 2009 Open Championship would have been one of the most popular, if not miraculous, wins, since at the age of 60, it would have made him the oldest major champion winner ever. Watson, the winner of 7 major championships on the regular PGA Tour and 8 majors on the Champions Tour and a total 70 wins worldwide, has spent a lifetime coming up with material for his newest book The Timeless Swing.

For Baby Boomers, Ben Hogan’s book Five Lessons: The Modern Fundamentals of Golf, has been the go to book for golf instruction, but for Generation X, those who grew up in the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s; Watson’s book will become the new standard of golf instruction.

Watson’s techniques are drawn from years of knowledge of studying the swing and playing the game. Mentored by Byron Nelson, Watson’s instruction is simple, straightforward and insightful. Starting with the basic fundamentals, Watson breaks down the swing in the simplest form. He includes tips on shot making, how to increase distance and drills to correct faults. The book has an added media feature: each chapter includes access to on-line video tips from Watson.

The Timeless Swing is a must read for all golfers.

KPJ Golf Fitness Challenge-

Join me as I do something every day to improve my fitness to play better golf.  I always tell my students that it is better to do some movement every day, even if it is just for a few moments, than to wait for the days where you have an hour or two to workout.  Those days hardly ever happen.

Coming Soon-Cardiogolf-The Core Workout

In my new Cardiogolf DVD, I focus on core exercises specific to golf.

You know you need to exercise for better health, so why not practice your golf swing at the same time.  Cardiogolf-The Core Workout will be available in July.
